William Joseph Crothers

William Joseph Crothers was born on August 25, 1931 to William and Bertha Crothers in Patoka, Illinois.  Bill came to Nellis AFB in July 1951 for the U.S. Air Force.  Bill worked as an aircraft mechanic for 39 years and retired in 1990.  He also was a member of IATSE #720 retired from there in 1997.

Bill married Dorla Dirks in January in 1956 and raised 2 children Ricky and Rhonda Dirks and 1 grandson, Chase Dirks.

After living in the Las Vegas area for over 50 years, Bill and Dorla moved to Caliente, Nevada in July 2006 to be closer to their great- grandchildren.  

Bill is survived by sister Betty Nixon, daughter Rhonda Wilkin, grandchildren Chase and Sharon Dirks, Sean and Liz Wilkin, BJ and Rosemary Dirks, Melinda Dirks, eight great-grandchildren; Cody, Kamryn, Caleb, Haley, Nova, William, Amelia and Kaiden; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife Dorla, his parents and son Ricky Dirks. 

He was the best dad, pop, uncle and brother.  He is dearly missed.  The viewing will be held at Southern Nevada Mortuary in Caliente, on June 29, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  Services will be held at Agape Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m.  Burial in the Veterans Cemetery in Caliente, Nevada.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Agape Baptist Church, PO Box 768, Caliente, Nevada, 89008.
