Joseph “Lyle” Whiteside, age 83, passed away on August 4, 2017 in Caliente, Nevada. He was born on March 28, 1934 to Joseph and Elsie Whiteside in Elko, Nevada.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper in the 101 st Airborne Unit. He married Ruth Ann Wing on October 8, 1982 in Panaca, Nevada. He loved cows, horses, leather, and especially being a rancher. He also worked as a mechanic and as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Whiteside of Caliente, NV; sons Mike Whiteside (Anna) of Tonopah, NV; Eddie Whiteside of Texas; Charles of Texas; sister Cheryl Whiteside of Bruneau, ID; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his siblings Ed Whiteside, Jack Whiteside, Jean Jones, Ila Enke, Petey Mitchell, and Rose Hopsen.
Lyle’s wishes were to have no serves because he did not want to say goodbye to his friends. Arrangements are being handled by Southern Nevada Mortuary.
