Leonard Henry Olinghouse was born December 22, 1942 in Caliente, Nevada. He attended school at Pioche and Lincoln County High School, graduating in 1960, and then went on to attend college in Corpus Christi, Texas and Cedar City, Utah.

Leonard enlisted in the US Navy in February, 1964, attending various naval schools, and in 1966 was stationed to a submarine stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. While there, he met and eventually married his wife, Gidget, in 1969. Gidget and Leonard were married for 41 years, until her death in 2009. In 1970, he was discharged from the Navy, and they returned to Pioche, where their daughter, Lori, was born in March 1970. In 1971 he reenlisted in the US Navy, serving at various duty stations in New London, CT, Rota, Spain, Idaho Falls, ID, San Diego, CA, and Vallejo, CA, finally retiring in 1984 with 20 years of active duty. Leonard and Gidget resided in Idaho Falls, ID until 2005, when they relocated to the Mesquite, NV area. After Gidget’s death, Leonard returned to Pioche, where he remained until his death on January 5, 2019.

Leonard is survived by his son-in-law, Bill Peacock of Idaho Falls, ID; his granddaughter, Mykal Jean Messenger of Idaho Falls, ID, and great grandson, James Bradley. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gidget Olinghouse, and daughter, Lori Peacock.
